USG Announces Expansion of Pennsylvania Office - 7/18/2016
USG Insurance Services, Inc., a national wholesaler and MGA, announced the expansion of their Pennsylvania operations with the addition of Mary Hoover, Producer/Broker; Cindy Sypien, Producer/Broker; Annette Kletzli, Production Assistant; and Dustin Lister, Associate Producer/Broker, based in Canonsburg, PA. Hoover brings over 30 years of commercial insurance experience to USG. She started her insurance career with the Insurance Office of Pittsburgh and most recently worked as an underwriter for Burns & Wilcox for 23 years. Hoover specializes in Transportation and Garage insurance. Hoover is also a member of the Insurance Club of Pittsburgh where she serves on the Board of Directors and as the 2017 I-Day Co-Chair. Sypien has over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining USG Insurance Services, Inc., she was the underwriting manager at Burns & Wilcox, where she started in November 2002 as a commercial underwriter. Sypien is also a member of the Insurance Club of Pittsburgh where she has served as I-Day Prize Giveaway Committee Chairperson and as a registration committee member. Kletzli has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years, joining USG from her position as Senior Assistant Underwriter with Burns & Wilcox. She previously worked at James L. Smith Insurance as a Commercial CSR. Kletzli holds a Bachelor of Science from Duquesne University. Lister brings over 16 years of insurance industry experience to USG. Most recently, he was a Professional Liability Broker with Apogee Insurance Group. Prior to holding that position, he was Regional Sales Manager for CIBA Insurance Services. Lister holds his BIS in Business and Political Science from Arizona State University. IBA conducted surveys among producers in the industry who rated their managing general agents in seven categories: MGA Reputation, Pricing, Range of Carriers, Underwriting Responsiveness, Claim Responsiveness, Automation, and Marketing Support. USG Announces Multiple Hires Across Several Offices - 3/21/2016
USG Insurance Services, Inc., a national wholesaler and MGA, announced the hire of Alex Cintron as a Producer/Broker based in Maitland, FL; Ellen Ostler as a Producer/Broker based in Houston, TX; and Robert Remeika as a Producer/Broker based in Irvine, CA. Cintron brings over eight years of professional liability experience to USG. Prior to joining USG, Cintron worked as a Professional Liability Associate Broker at SCU Insurance Services, Inc. in Altamonte Springs, FL. While there, he maintained proactive sales relationships and incrementally grew their book of business to reflect strategic business plan requirements. Cintron received his Florida General Lines Agents License in 2012 and is working toward achieving the status of Registered Professional Liability Underwriter. In his role at USG, Cintron will be developing his commercial lines book of business with agents in Florida and surrounding states. Ostler joins USG with over ten years of industry experience. She previously worked at Regional Insurance Services and Deep South Surplus as an Underwriter. Ostler completed classes is Medical Terminology and Medical Coding CPT from Bossier Parish Community College and obtained an Associate’s degree in Commercial Underwriting from the American Institute for CPCU/IIA. Remeika joins USG with over 25 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the team, he worked at American E&S in Irvine, CA as a broker/underwriter, and more recently at RT Specialty in Irvine as a VP/Casualty Broker. Remeika holds professional licenses in CA, AZ, TX, NV, and CO. He attends annual GL and Property continuing education classes and is a board member for Insurance Professionals of Orange County. USG Founder Gerald Horton Celebrates 50 Years in Insurance - 3/21/2016
Gerald W. Horton, the Founder and Chairman/CEO of USG Insurance Services, Inc. and insurance industry professional, celebrates 50 years in insurance. In 2001, Horton created the plan for the footprint, distribution, products, infrastructure, and technology of USG that continues to grow 15 years later. Horton began his career on June 21, 1965 in the billing department of Bituminous where he trained to become an auditor. He worked in the company’s home office in Rock Island, IL for about 1 ½ years before progressing to a field auditor position and transferring to their Baltimore, MD branch office. In October of 1969, Horton returned to Illinois, trained for two years to become an underwriter, and was transferred in 1971 to Milwaukee, WI. In 1974, Horton was promoted to Assistant Branch Manager of Milwaukee’s Underwriting Office. Several promotions later, and after 15 years with Bituminous, Horton accepted a position with Burns & Wilcox offered to him by the most influential person in his career: Herb Kaufmann. Horton held a position as Underwriter and worked his way through an assortment of titles during his 18+ year tenure, including Casualty Manager, Bond Manager, Transportation Manager, Underwriting Manager, Vice President, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President, and Member of the Board of Directors. Horton resigned from Burns & Wilcox in 1999 and formed a partnership with Bob and Pat Erickson to form Universal Specialty Underwriters in Tampa, FL. During this time, they acquired offices in Palatine, IL and Canonsburg, PA, and opened offices in LA and MI. After two years, the partnership ended and USG was formed on January 1, 2001. The original production offices remained: Tampa, FL; Canonsburg, PA; Palatine, IL; Madison Heights, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; and Covington, LA. USG Announces New Office Based in Sandpoint, ID and New Hires - 1/11/2016
USG Insurance Services, Inc., a national wholesaler and MGA, announced the launch of a new office located in Sandpoint, ID with the hire of Jim Parsons and Sabrina Christensen, Producer/Broker. Parsons joins USG with over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, most recently as President of BSR Insurance. He has also served as Senior Vice President: Divisional Manager for JH Insurance Services and Senior Vice President/Managing Director for AmWINS. Parsons holds a CIC Certification and is a volunteer firefighter and EMT. Prior to joining USG, Christensen worked for BSR Insurance as an Underwriter. Earlier in her career in the insurance industry, she also worked for JH Insurance as an Underwriter. She attended Green River Community College.
